PA3771 Parker 61 Heritage, Rainbow Cap. (Extra-Fine)
Date: c1960
Size: Capped - 139mm; posted - 152mm.
This is a glossy India black Parker 61 Heritage pen with a beautiful yellow gold and silver rainbow cap. It is the early Mark I version with the capillary filling mechanism. This pen is in excellent condition - I really can't see any damage at all on this pen. The cap is gold-filled (1/10 14 carat rolled gold) along with silver making the rainbow effect. The silver does show typical patina, which I have left, but should you wish, it is a very simple matter to give the cap a gentle polish to bring out the silver shine. The clear grey top jewel is undamaged, and so is the rolled gold Parker arrow pocket clip. The barrel has a matching grey jewel at its end, with a gold filled tassie surrounding it. The barrel unscrews to reveal the original capillary fill mechanism with it black Teflon-coated surround. The hood has the inlaid gold arrow just behind the nib, and the nib itself is made from 14 carat gold and is in a rather unusual extra-fine point.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib is very smooth in use and writes with a lovely, wet and extra-fine width consistent line.
