SW839 Blackbird Self-Filler No. 5244. (Soft Fine).

A lovely glossy burgundy marbled celluloid Blackbird.  This pen is in excellent condition with no noticeable surface scratches, chips or cracks - I really can't see anything wrong with this pen at all.  The cap has a slightly convex top with a "BLACKBIRD" imprint near the crown on the opposite side to the pocket clip.  The clip itself is chrome plated with a ball at the bottom and the Blackbird logo imprinted at the top.  The main barrel imprint is in excellent condition - deep and crisp.  The filling lever is also chrome plated and has the small circular end tab that is very much a Mabie trademark mark.  The nib is the original Blackbird in 14 carat gold and with a very nice fine point.

I have fully serviced this pen.  The nib is very smooth when writing and lays down a good fine width wet and consistent line.  This nib is quite soft and will produce a little line width variation as you write with no more than usual writing pressure,
