A Blackbird from the early 1930s.  It is made from black chased hard rubber.  It is in good condition - there is some colour fading to the barrel and cap, which are now a dark brown colour, and there is also fading to the chasing on both barrel and cap.  However, if I look as good when I am nearly 90, I will be happy.  The chasing consists of hoops of fine hatches running most of the way up the barrel and cap.  Every piece of the pen is original and is marked.   The cap is very plain and unadorned with no pocket clip and no bands.  It has "BLACKBIRD" imprinted around the top edge.  The nickel-plated filling lever is fairly short and squat and has a small circular end tab.  The barrel imprint is still nice and crisp on this one.  The nib is a lovely Blackbird No 1 size, in 14 ct. gold, and it appears to be a stub nib. 

I have fully serviced this pen.  The nib writes well.   It is a semi-flexible nib and will give some beautiful and effortless line width variation as you write from a medium to an easy double-broad width.
