CS1159 Conway Stewart No. 15 Fountain Pen and Nippy No. 3 Pencil Set, boxed. (Medium Stub)

A beautiful burgundy and black marbled casein Conway 15 and Nippy No. 3 pencil set in excellent condition.  Both pieces are lovely and glossy with none of the surface crazing you sometimes get with these older Casein pens.  There are no noticeable scratches or other damage on either piece. 

Fountain Pen

The black conical ended cap top button holds on the gold-plated "CS" monogrammed pocket clip.  This one has the diamond-shaped end.  This is a later pen with the single gold-plated cap band.  The filling lever is also gold-plated and has the "CS" monogram within a diamond imprinted onto the circular end tab.  The barrel imprint is lovely and crisp, and deep.  The nib is a Conway Stewart No. 1A in a very sweet, medium stub point.

Pencil

You twist the black crown to extend and retract the 1.18mm lead.  The pencil, too, has a lovely crisp and deep imprint.  I have fitted a fresh lead into the mechanism, and it is working perfectly.  The point of the pencil is gold-plated and does show a little discolouration as most of these do.  

Box

The original paperboard box is also in very nice condition with just a small scuff to the top of the lid.  Inside, the pad is made from cream coloured satin.  

I have fully serviced this set.  The nib is very smooth and writes with a very nice, wet and consistent medium-width line.    This is a stub nib and will provide you with some lovely and effortless line width variation as you write.  The pencil works perfectly.  

Would make a great everyday writer, and in good enough condition for a display set.
